Michael UpdeGraff is an accomplished television lighting designer and director with over 25 years of experience creating dynamic, visually engaging environments across a wide range of formats. He attended California State University, Northridge, where he studied Radio/TV/Film. Michael has built a career defined by creativity, precision, and a deep technical understanding of the lighting craft.
He has designed and directed lighting for some of the most recognizable productions in television, including Deal or No Deal, After Midnight, and the Daytime Emmy Awards. His work spans game shows, talk shows, award shows, and live events, always tailored to elevate the content and connect with audiences.
Michael has performed many rolls in the industry including an electrician, gaffer, and lighting programmer—experience that laid the groundwork for his practical, hands-on approach to design. His ability to balance artistic vision with real-world efficiency makes him a trusted partner on any set.
